About

At Sunweb my UX lead once called me a "weird designer". He was right. They were not looking for someone for pretty animations or sales pages; they were looking for someone willing to touch the systems nobody dared to come near. Outdated workflows, employees juggling dozens of applications, and the Excel sheets born out of sheer desperation that an entire department now ran on.

That turned out to be exactly my thing. I have been in UX for almost twenty years, freelance since 2008, and complexity energizes me in the good sense: finding order in chaos, connecting the dots between teams, understanding how people really work. At Schiphol the penny dropped that there is a name for this: Enterprise UX. A whole discipline, and a whole community of people who love this kind of puzzle.

That has been my specialization ever since: research and design for expert users in data-rich, business-critical environments. Traders who decide in seconds. Reliability engineers watching thousands of assets. Customer service teams navigating twenty-year-old systems. I cover the full spectrum: from strategy and research to design within a design system.

The common thread in how I work: evidence over opinion. Every design choice traceable to research, every claim made measurable. And for the past few years: AI as an enabler throughout the process, from research synthesis to working prototypes and a ‘project brain’ to talk to.

Alongside client work I run my own research into the field (Navigating Complexity), speak at events and build my own tooling.
